Phoned requests

We do not accept any phone requests. You will be asked to make a Face to Face or TeleHealth Appointment with your doctor for scripts / referrals or any other request. This is in the interest of your safety, health and wellbeing. No exceptions will be made.

Telephoning your Doctor

Most problems are best treated in person, but a doctor is always available for emergency advice. No test results will be given over the phone. An appointment must be made.

Emails

The practice email (carlingford@cesurgery.com.au and epping@cesurgery.com.au) is only monitored between the hours of 8am -6pm Monday to Friday (not weekends and Public Holidays).  Doctors at this practice do not communicate with patients for any medical issues at all via email. Please make an appointment with your GP to discuss any relevant issues asap.  All emails will be acknowledged and/or responded to in a timely manner.  If you have an emergency please proceed directly to your nearest hospital or for afterhours assistance please phone Sydney Medical Service – 8724 6300

Medical Certificates

It is illegal to backdate certificates. Please try to see a doctor on the first day of absence.

Patient Confidentiality

Please be advised that the practice adheres to the AMA Code of Ethics and has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protections and no information is stored or forwarded overseas. We will only release test results to the person whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results. Sometimes it will not be appropriate to give results over the phone and you will be asked to make an appointment with your doctor. Some doctors do NOT give results over the phone and you will be asked to make a follow up appointment to discuss the results. It is your responsibility to check /follow up with your doctor and make an appointment if necessary for these results.

Recall and Reminder system

The practice has a “recall system” by which patients are recalled to make appointments to discuss pathology or X-ray results, reports from other Specialist visits, or because a regular review is due such as Cervical screening test, Diabetes assessment etc. These recalls will be by SMS, mail or phone call. Please make the Receptionist aware of your preferred form of contact.

Fees

We are a mixed billing practice and most consultations incur an out of pocket expense. Our fees are structured to reflect the time you spend with your doctor as well as the complexity of matters discussed. All our Doctors charge individually therefore if you do not see your usual doctor your consultation fee may vary.

Our fee for a Standard consultation – $86.00 Medicare rebate $38.75,  Longer consultation $136.00- Medicare rebate $ 75.05. Immediate Medicare rebate is available for your cheque / savings card.

Home Visits

Home visits are available to our regular patients whose condition prevents them from attending the Surgery. Please call us before 11.30am for URGENT home visits.

Requests received after 11:30am will be referred to our Deputising Service (Sydney Medical Services) who will only be able to attend after 6pm, Monday to Friday or after 12 noon Saturday, all day Sunday and Public Holidays.

After Hours

The Practice utilises a Deputising Service for its after hours house calls. This service will contact us the next day with a report of the house visit and any suggestions for follow up treatment.
